Holiday Season

This year my family has decided not to "do" Christmas. No Christmas tree, no presents, no decorations: simply spending time with family & friends and celebrating life.
We chose to do this for several different reasons; all of which have contributed to more happiness and less stress than any other holiday season in years past :)

What are your Holiday/ Christmas plans??

Animal Testing

IF YOU ARE GOING TO SCROLL THROUGH ALL OF THE WRITING, AT LEAST SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM & READ--

I love animals. I always have. Most little kids love animals, and as they grow up, their passion and love for them slowly goes away. However, this has never been the case with me. If anything, my passion for animals has only gotten stronger. I have been a vegetarian two previous times in my life, for a year each, both while I was a child. Now that I am a young adult, I have been a vegetarian for over 2 years and simply don't see myself ever eating meat again-- to me, it is something very important and although I do not advocate vegetarianism for everyone, (because let's face it, most people simply will not give up meat) I do also think that simply not hearing the facts is ridiculous. For something such as vegetarianism, the facts state that though humans have evolved to better adapt to eating meat; not only are we as humans not meant to eat animals, but it is also a huge health and environmental concern.
Anyway, what this post is about is animal testing.

By NOT buying from these brands, the beauty community can put financial pressure on those particular companies to stop testing on poor, innocent animals

In order to educate, I wanted to include some popular cosmetic companies that DO test on animals. I hope that this can motivate you to stop buying from these companies.
A small gesture can make a HUGE difference

untitled

COMPANIES THAT DO TEST ON ANIMALS
Clairol (This includes Aussie, Daily Defense, Herbal Essences, Infusium 23, Procter & Gamble)
Cover Girl
Johnson & Johnson (this includes Aveeno, Clear & Clear, Listerine, Lubriderm, Neutrogena, Rembrandt, ROC)

L’Oréal U.S.A. (Biotherm, Cacharel, Garnier, Giorgio Armani, Helena Rubinstein, Lancôme, Matrix Essentials, Maybelline, Ralph Lauren Fragrances, Redken, Soft Sheen, Vichy)
*Although the Body Shop does not test on animals and vocally says that they are against it, they are ultimately owned by L'Oreal and therefore supporting the Body Shop puts money in the pocket of a company that is one of the leaders of testing cosmetics on animals
Max Factor
Olay
Oral B
Pantene
Suave
Dior
Guerlain
Lancome
Benefit (unfortunately they do test individual ingredients on animals)
Kiehls

These are only SOME of the popular brands that DO test on animals. By going to the link I included at the bottom of the page, you can see a more complete list. This however is NOT the complete list--
Really, if you have a particular brand you do not see on either the DO or DO NOT list on the PETA website, feel free to ask me or google it yourself to check if that company tests on animals! Also, many companies that are not on each list are companies that do not disclose their testing status--this often means that they DO test on animals.

To view the lists of companies that DO and DO NOT test on animals, please go here:

**Unfortunately, many drugstore brands DO test on animals. I am unsure why this is, I am sure the answer can be found online. Although drugstore brands can and often are less expensive than higher end products, just ask yourself,
Is the cheaper price of make-up worth the price of animals' lives??

Pretty in Pink

Over the weekend I got a mani/pedi and had been inspired to choose a light pinkish-purplish nail polish.
I decided on this baby pink color
Normally I ALWAYS look to see the title of the color I have on, however after pondering several different pinks, I chose this one and it slipped my mind.
All I know is that this is a China Glaze polish that I will definitely be searching for to find the name

I always tend to gravitate towards pinks as a go-to color. It is girly and my favorite color.
A "do-know-wrong" in my book. :)
However, I have never really chosen baby pinks..until now!
This has definitely become one of my instant go-to favorites!!

What about you- Do you have a go-to color when painting your nails!?

Sex And The City II

So SATC 2 came to theaters what seems like ages ago.
However, I was just watching the movie this past weekend while I was home and instantly became smitten with all of the clothing! (well most of it at least ;) )
Regardless of whether you enjoy high, trendy fashion (which most of the characters wear) or are into casual, and sometimes trendy clothes (such as I am), it is always fun to find "dupes" or similiar finds to key pieces of a film.
For this reason, while I was watching SATC 2, I became attracted to this dress that Carrie is wearing in one of the beginning scenes of the movie:

Initially, I didn't know if I loved this dress. However, after staring out it for a bit, I realized that this is a gorgeous, trendy piece that would look great in the summer (oh and do I miss summer!)

Later in the film, Carrie is seen wearing a similiar, yet longer dress hear:

Though I am not too into bright orange, and I much prefer the blue, sparkly and shorter dress, this is just another emphasis of the trend in this film.
Both dresses are by the brand Halston Heritage.

 Here comes the "dupes."
As I was browsing the Nordstrom website today, I ran across these two lovely pieces:

images from www.Nordstrom.com

Though these are not the bright and beautiful colors as seen in SATC 2, they are comparable "dupes" that encompass the pleated trend.

I definitely will consider picking one of these up to spread the SATC 2 fashion love.
At $44.00 compared to the HH $400 on up retail price tag, I definitely think it would be a great deal!

Concealer & Foundation Routine.. & some ?s

Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating ConcealerCurrently, my daily concealer/ foundation

routine is pretty simplistic. First, I start

with concealer, this one to be precise:

Dior Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer

*I apply this to my "trouble" spots
and under my eyes

bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation

Second, and lastly, I apply this

foundation all over my face:

& Wa-la, I am done!!

HD Invisible Cover FoundationHowever, I want to change my routine up a bit. For one, I love the Dior concealer, however as I am aware right now, their brand tests on animals and I do not want to support this practice by purchasing their products. Secondly, I want to try this product SO bad:
It is a liquid foundation (I have never used liquid foundation before) and therefore I need to alter my routine.

With this product, I will need a setting powder for on top, I am
thinking either:

HD Microfinish Powder

Make Up For Ever HD             Chanel Poudre Universelle
Microfinish Powder                  Compact Natural Finish
                                               Pressed Powder

Have any of you tried either product, which one's better!?

Photo Finish Foundation Primer To Go

Lastly, I will be purchasing

this primer to try out-- I heard

that it is AMAZING!!

Also, I plan to purchase a new concealer, I am always on the search for one I like. Which one do you use??

What is your concealer/
foundation routine!?
Do you use liquid, powder, etc.??
