Diane von Furstenberg

Do you have brands that you just go gaga over, yet they are so expensive that you know you will just have to keep looking!?
Well that is how I am with Diane con Furstenberg and her items!
However, I spotted these lovely leopard print glasses and definitely will be adding them to my "wish" list.

..& for $145.00, not as bad as many of her items!!
What do you all think!?

Polyvore Outfit Inspiration

So I am getting excited because though my blog tends to go unattended during the weekdays (sorry! :l) each Tuesday and Thursday I get the pleasure of having a class with several girls that dress fantastic!! One girl in particular, ALWAYS wears the cutest sweaters. I will be posting about those later.. However, though the girls in my class dress beautifully, I have discovered a new eagerness to enter the building where I have my class because other girls too, dress so nice! Like I have said before--at my school I feel like I often don't relate to many of girls' fashion choice; however last week one girl was walking by and had a very similiar outfit to this one:

To elaborate on this outfit a little more, she was wearing a black sweater, such as the one above. She was also wearing black, lace tights with knee high black socks over them! This is a combo. I would have never thought of, but let's face it, it's adorable!! (in my opinion at least ;D) She was wearing a simply black flat (which I really liked because this is my preferred shoe!). Also, with her black sweater- she had a pretty infinity scarf! I paired this outfit with a cheetah/leopard infinity scarf that had some black in it, however I am simply blanking on the design of hers! Even if you do not own an infinity scarf: a trick to use to create one is by taking a regular scarf, taking the two ends and then a hair tie/ elastic. You then tie the two ends together (in a small bow) and when you wear it, make sure to keep this side at the nape of your neck. Also, wrap the scarf around your neck twice, and the second wrap-around will cover up the back also :)
I hope that made sense!
Oh, and lastly this stylish girl had light, denim shorts! I have mixed feelings about denim shorts + tights, however the sweater was long enough for the shorts to peek out only a tad--
I basically have this outfit except for the shorts--so maybe if I find a pair I will be able to recreate this look!
I will keep you all updated :)
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!!

XXOOPearls&Politics

p.s. I used this amazing site called Polyvore to create the image above. If you haven't checked it out before- I definitely would because it is free and the database of clothing is practically infinite! It is great for recreating looks and arranging them like this :)

Similiar Much??

Remember the lovely Kensie sweater I purchased and told you all about just the other day?
Well as I was stalking the Nordstrom website (as I often do) and I found the following Haute Hippie sweater.
How familiar are these prints and styles!?
& the best part!? the price different is IMMENSE, & I got the cheaper one :)
Haute Hippie on the left: $495.00 originally, Kensie on the left: $78.00 originally
What a difference in prices, though not a huge difference in style/print!!

OPI: Not So Bora Bora-ing Pink

I got a pedi/mani this past weekend and got this amazing color called Not So Bora Bora-ing Pink by OPI. I absolutely adore OPI's names for their polishes.

I thought that this pink is perfect for this time of year because it is not too light as if it were Spring/Summer, and it is not too dark like the typical Fall/Winter color (I am SO tired of the wet, cold, and dark days!)

This color is actually very unique because in person it has a tiny bit of an iridescent shine to it with these lovely colors as shown in the photo below:
File:Soap Bubble - foliage background - iridescent colours - Traquair 040801.jpg

How about you all, are you all getting tired of the dark colors & ready for Spring?

Kensie Sweater

Have you ever seen a piece of clothing and instantly fell in love!? How about when you look at the price tag and all of your dreams for that item go out the window?
Well that was me when I saw the item below. However, I thought to myself, "Why not just try it on?"
After doing so, and loving it even more, I decided to put it back on the rack and walk away.. self-restraint.
Then, right after finals I went to the mall with one of my friends and told her I was thinking about purchasing this lovely, though pricey sweater for an "end of the quarter, congrats on finishing" gift to myself. Thankfully, my friend convinced me to just wait. Her reasoning however went strictly beyond the price. She thought it was kind of ugly! haha
Anyway.. while stalking the Nordstrom website, as I often do, I saw this lovely piece on sale for 40% off!! I was beyond ecstatic!!
I placed my order and received it in the mail the other day!

Sweater seen on Hillary Duff! I love her outfit and definitely would love to own her Alexander Wang bag! :)

This or That: Watch Style

Since I can remember, I have wanted a Marc Jacobs watch. Years ago when this became a lust of mine, I thought to myself, "well, this is such an expensive item, and would it really be a timeless piece to purchase?"
Now probably about, at least 10 years later, I think it would have been an investment years ago.
However, I have finally decided that I may just purchase the watch [or receive it for an upcoming birthday present ;)], however I am not sure which color: gold or silver, to get.
This is where I need your help!
I intend to wear this watch often, however not everyday. Also, I feel like I like silver for jewelry more, but I am always wearing gold! The one ring I wear everyday is silver, however when I add more statement pieces, those are gold. I also tend to wear silver earrings more.
I know that mixing metal is cute, (I've always been a fan), however I really want to purchase a watch that will stay consistent and look cute with the majority of my outfits.
Overall, looking at these watches, I would love to pair it with bangles.
Also, I feel like the gold is prettier, but maybe the silver is more practical!?
I simply don't know.. and that is why I would LOVE your advice!!

2010 Make-up Survey

So now that 2010 has come to a close, I thought I would do the 2010 make-up products survey over the things I used most in 2010.

MAKE UP
1. Foundation - Bare Minerals Matte Powder foundation
(However, I preferred just the regular, not the matte)

4. Powder - My powder was my foundation

5. Bronzer - Nars Laguna
6. Highlighter - Nars Albatross
7. Eyeshadow - MAC Shroom, MAC Woodwinked, MAC Soft Brown

10. Eyeliner - None really, but on very rare occasions: Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in black
11. Lipstick - MAC anything :)

Coach Keychains

Coach keychains -- always adorable!!
I just glanced at the most recent keychains on coach.com and picked out my favorite to show you all!!
Which one is your favorite!?

YSL Ring

So many of you in the blogging community have probably seen, or even own the following beautiful ring:

photo from: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbehXJd_idMgc5RXc1Kzir7u6rfOumc7g3aAgTw2l6pKchUbxmQuDD01dBRtcL0zJ3YajmSHuRRrTLtyDZP1fiIi5qrDp2xuSDWf9gZdzFXolgybXa9gFZh9MBcZLzZspPtRycQ5UmEGQ/s1600/ysl-ring-blanaid.jpg
However, for a price tag of $300 and upwards, I simply cannot fathom myself buying this piece.
Any suggestions where/ if I can get one for cheaper??

They come in many different colors, although I think the turquoise one above is the most popular and probably my favorite as well.

This is a trendy item that has been seen all over lately, but my question to you: Will it go out of style soon do you think??
Or.... will it be a "classic" piece seen twenty+ years from now as being fashionable??

Remember--if you like what you see: please, follow me :)

HELP---

So I would love to blog more--which I have been doing, however whenever I post, most of the time I go to my profile and the newly-added material looks completely different than when I entered it into the square box on BlogLovin'

For example: I will post pictures and a lot of the time and once posted, they will not show up, instead there will be a ? mark or something.

Also, I ALWAYS have trouble with spacing!! I will post something and say put 2 spaces and then the next thing, but on the blog it will show up as 10 spaces!!

Please help me someone-- this is so frustrating :(

MORE BLOG POSTS COMING SOON THOUGH WHEN I FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM

Fashion: People's Choice Awards

As some of you may or may not know (especially if you reside in a country other than America), the annual People's Choice Awards was on earlier this week.
I tuned in and saw several great, adorable dresses and outfits worn by the stars.
This was the first award show of the year and season, so there will only be more dresses and gowns to come in the near future, and I will be sure to highlight my favorites throughout the season!!
Did you watch any of the People's Choice Awards?
What do you think of the looks? Which is your favorite!?
Emma Roberts - Dior
One word-stunning! Without sounding like an oxymoron, this dress is extravagant yet simple--
The PCA are just the beginning of the award season, therefore outfits are typically more chic and simple, than the more glamorous and extravagant gowns you may see at shows such as the Oscars. I think that Emma does amazingly-well choosing this outfit for the occasion and her shows truly break-up the look and add a final, special touch.

Mila Kunis - J. Mendel
Mila looks amazing! Then again, when does she not!? This dress is simply simple, however it looks so fab. on Mila that it looks amazing. Some critics are calling this a Forever 21 dress (which in their eyes is too simple and cheap-looking) however, who really has a problem with F21!? I know I don't! I think her look is anything BUT cheap and tacky--I think it is lovely!!

Pauley Perrette - Terri King
Pauley is one of my favorite actresses (NCIS) and this dress can help explain why I think her personality is amazing as well: she co-designed this dress to advertise her anti-bullying campaign "No H8." I think she looks great and though sometimes dresses that are meant to advertise/ have pictures pasted on them can look a little.. informal and not as nice, I think Pauley did a wonderful job with this look!

Lisa Edelstein - Farah Angsana
This dress is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!! I think the colors of this dress are amazing on Lisa and I love that her shoes are both grey and black: just like her dress! :) She looks so pretty and her hair and make-up only add to this fabulous look!

Kourtney, Khloe, & Kim Kardashian - Gert-Johan Coetzee, Alexander McQueen, & Malandrino
I would have just posted Kourtney's dress (far left), however for you all, I thought you may want to see the other Kardashian sisters :) Kourtney's look is adorable in my eyes! I love this style of a dress and the design is not simple, though not too busy: it is near perfection :) Although it is not my favorite of the night, it is very close! A definite stand-out in my opinion.

Katy Perry - Betsey Johnson

So pretty! Katy always wears bright colors and unique pieces, hardly disappointing with this dress! I am extra ecstatic because it is Betsey Johnson: a lovely designer that many younger girls can afford and wear! Although I would have loved this look more if she matched her shoes (hot pink) with her lovely gown (purple and blue, even a neutral or metallic shoes). This dress fit Katy's personality and style and I really enjoyed this look! (her date also had a purple and blue tie that matched identically to her dress and had the sheen to it--fabulous :D)

Taylor Swift - J. Mendel
Beautiful! This is a dress where the pictures do not show the extraordinary design and loveliness. When I first saw Taylor in the audience, I gasped! On the side of the dress, it looked as if the pink fabric barely covered her chest on the side-- I thought, "this is definitely different than her normal, conservative though cute style." However, when she walked on stage I noticed the siding, top, and back of the dress was a nude material that simply appeared as if it was her skin, though it was really fabric!! I should have never doubted Taylor! haha. I love this look and tied together with her shoes and lovely up-do, she looks great!

Ashley Tisdale - Farah Angsana

This look ties as my favorite. Although it is a long gown, in a more casual setting, the pattern and cut make it simply spectacular for the event! I love how she did her hair, nails, make-up and added accessories: all to finish-up the look! I also just love Ashley Tisdale!

Cat Deeley - Retro tea-length gown
I absolutely think she looks incredible! I love the black and sequins because although it is an ankle-length dress, the pattern and color makes it very modern and beautiful.

Selena Gomez - Paule Ka
I think that Selena looks absolutely fabulous!! I think that this dress could have definitely went wrong on many different women and shapes, including my own; however, Selena simply looks amazing. The pale pink against her beautiful skin-tone, pretty hairstyle, and lovely make-up looks fab!! She has definitely shown her adult age (now 18), with a mature, yet girly look!

Kristen Stewart - Reem Acra
My favorite look of the night!! This picture absolutely does this dress no justice in my opinion either. On the television, it looks far more shiny and stunning! Although she is showin' off lots of leg, heck, if I had lovely legs like that I would too! :) I absolutely have nothing else to say about this dress because it looks fabulous!! A perfect 10!!

What is your favorite look?

Outfit Inspiration

I find that I get outfit inspiration from the people around me. Although I love looking at magazines and high fashion girls on blogs, and though I think that subconsciously I pick up some of the fantastic taste and style; realistically, high fashion is so darn expensive and often so unpractical for everyday wear [I love to LOOK, but I am a college student where I would rather not stand out THAT much ;)]
Anyway.. so today during class I actually got to be surrounded with many girls that, well.. were super fashionable! At my school, most of the clothing style is very unique, however it is a hipster, goodwill store style. Although I have nothing against this style, for I think everyone is entitled to their own style and whatever makes them feel good in their skin, great, however, it is just not MY style. Yesterday, when I started my quarter, the class I had consisted of primarily girls, however their style was simply not me and the pieces were not me either.

This is why today when I found girls wearing so many adorable pieces, I was so excited!
Today not only in class did I see some fabulous outfits, while walking out of the building I was in I saw a simple, yet adorable outfit!!
This is the inspiration for this post--
She was wearing a white long sleeved shirt, fur vest (I am hoping it was faux!), black skinny jeans, and adorable black Chanel flats (the ones she was wearing are pasted below)
Also, she had a cute, small black crossbody bag, though I didn't catch the brand or exact style :l
How cute are these shoes!!?? I want!!!!
But for the steep price tag of a minimum of $500 (EBAY), I won't be seeing them on my feet anytime soon :l Any ideas where I can get them for cheaper!? I don't understand how this girl could afford such lovely & luxurious shoes when she too is a college student!

Happy New Year, 20 Questions, & Some Info.

To become a better blogger & for you all to get to know me a little better, I wanted to do the following questionnaire.
Also, for me to get to know you as well as contribute more to this blog, feel free to email me at pearlsandpoliticsgirl@gmail.com with the following answers and a photo of yourself/ a picture that represents your blog, and I will love to post it for you! I always thought that when other bloggers did this, it was a simple and kind way of involving all kinds of bloggers in the community.
So here it goes--

1)      Why did you start your blog?
One of my best friends has a blog. She encouraged me to start my own! Also, I began reading so many different blogs that I thought, "Why not have my own place where I can comment and view others blogs while allowing them to get to know me a little bit as well." I really wanted to be able to share my thoughts on fashion, make-up, etc. as well as politics (although that has really not happened yet :l).

        2)      How long have you been blogging for?
Several months now!!

        3)      What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I love learning and discovering new things from other bloggers; either about things I write about, or simply from reading what others post about. For example, I love to read reviews about products or find out about sales! Things I may have never known if it weren't for blogging.

        4)      What frustrates you most about blogging?
I definitely do not post enough!! I think I had a vision that my blog needed to be very high tech and fabulous like so many others, so I was not very motivated to post. However, I now realize that I need to do my own thing and hopefully someone out there will appreciate it :) Also, I am a college student so I am super busy! I definitely need to and will start posting more with the new year :)

        5)      How much time a week do you spend on your blog / reading other people’s blogs?
I go on my blog everyday!! Although I do not post very often, (or when I do, I go through spells of posting or not posting at all), I always am viewing my feed and browsing other blogs. I love it! :)

        6)      What advice do you have for aspiring beauty bloggers?
I honestly feel like I am not a huge person to be giving advice on this one. All I can really say is to be true to what you want your blog to be about and always remain positive :)

        7)      What other hobbies/interests do you have?
I enjoy reading, working out, shopping!, watching television and just enjoying the wonders that life brings.

8 )      How many bottles of nail varnish do you own?
I actually just started purchasing nail polish again! When I was younger, I had so many! However my collection dried out and ran out and I simply found myself getting my nails done and not owning many polishes. Now I own about 10 and am planning to expand my collection.

        9)      Do you set yourself a shopping budget, or do you purchase on an as-and-when basis?
I definitely am on a budget. I am a college student! I definitely feel that I buy items as I need them, however I also do go shopping every once in awhile and purchase items I do not necessarily need.

        10)     What is your favourite make-up brand, and why?
I have always loved MAC. I used to get my make-up done there for school dances and the money put down to save a spot for your appointment would go towards make-up! I simply love the brand because they have such a wide range of products and I feel like everyone could find their basic products needed there. Also, they DO NOT test on animals and that is a big requirement for me to buy from a brand! For this same reason, I have been enjoying Urban Decay and think their products are also amazing!

        11)     Do you ever leave the house without wearing make-up?
I will at times, however I always try to put a little on just so I look a little more presentable in public and feel more comfortable in my own skin :)

        12)     What is your favourite beauty product and why?
Hmmmm.. hard question. I think my current favorite beauty product is the MAC 180 Powder Brush. It is more of a tool, but after using this icky Bare Minerals own that felt so gross on my skin, this one is SO nice! I will definitely be posting about it soon :)

        13)     What is your favourite nail varnish of all time? (yep, only one!)
I don't particularly have a favorite nail polish. However, I do always love pink polishes and brands such as OPI and China Glaze never do me wrong :)

        14)     Tell us about the best holiday you’ve ever been on
I absolutely adore going anywhere sunny. Whenever Washington is rainy and I go somewhere that is warm and the sun is shining, I think it is amazing!

        15)     What would be your ideal day off?
My ideal day off.. I think I would sleep in just a little while. I would get Starbucks (my fav.) and go do a little shopping. Then possibly go to a movie and go to a nice restaurant where I could get yummy food haha. I definitely would make sure it was a relaxed day however because I do not like the feeling of being rushed on days off.

        16)     What is your favourite TV show?
I actually just did a post about this :) My current favorite TV show is Pretty Little Liars! It actually will be premiering again in two nights and I am SO excited!! If I had to choose a show that I have enjoyed for a long time, I would choose Law & Order: SVU. I could watch that show for hours! (& I do sometimes) :)

        17)     What music do you enjoy listening to?
I love music that is fun to sing-a-long to! Main stream pop radio is alright, however I love my country music!!

        18)     What is your favourite food?
Definitely pasta! I absolutely eat pasta all of the time and just love it! haha

        19)     Where would you most like to visit in the world? (money no object)
I would simply just love to travel! Although I prefer tropical, sunny locations; I would also like to travel to each continent and it's countries!

        20)     Tell us a secret…
Well if I told you a secret it wouldn't be a secret, right!? Haha. Just kidding.
A fun fact would be that I didn't have a facebook until about a year ago! I had one before that, however only for a short while! Very random, kind of boring, however I don't really know what else to say :) haha

I hope you enjoyed reading this post & remember, feel free to send me your responses at pearlsandpoliticsgirl@gmail.com !!
